Biography
I have participated in development and technical liaison (marketing/requirements analysis/Open Source evangelism) activities for a number of different industries (financial, automotive, home automation, cellular hardware, government/defense). In addition to design and development, I have leveraged my ability to concretely explain technology to non-technical audiences, including giving presentations to external and internal audiences on a variety of subjects.
I like to speak on topics centered around Open Source/Community and their applicability to a wide range of collaboration and technology challenges. I've also spent time in the US Defense contracting space applying Open Source principles, and I can speak to that as well. Finally, I do speak indirectly about social media topics, but only as they apply to enhancing or building communities. Therefore, I wouldn't consider myself a 'Social Media Expert', just an informed and passionate proponent of their judicious use.

Sample Talks (2)
Generals, Colonels & Community: Refactoring DoD Software Development
A talk describing how my team developed an Open Source-style code sharing repository for the US Department of Defense. This talk is not strictly about the tools/system we built, but also some of the cultural challenges we faced and overcame, as well as a discussion of why building communities was critical to the success of the effort. There are some ROI numbers and take aways I leave the audience with to show how taking a chance on 'thinking different' in a traditional organization such as the DoD can have lasting benefits.
Open Source & Community Aren't Just for Technology Anymore
A talk describing how principles of Open Source & Community (e.g. - trust, transparency, quick iterations) are valuable to a wider variety of business problems. The success and value of Open Source projects such as Linux, Apache, Subversion, etc. is not solely in the end product. Applying principles of Open Source and Community to business problems of all stripes can yield radical results and empower your workforce to accomplish things they (and you) thought were previously unachievable.
