Biography

Irina Firsova is an Instructor of Economics at Loyola Marymount University. She has earned her Ph.D. in Economics from University of California, Davis.
She is an applied microeconomist with a focus on environmental economics and public health. She is interested in questions related to effects of air pollution on cognitive function and mental health outcomes, especially through the lens of environmental justice.
Irina's teaching philosophy lies at the intersection of rigor and compassion. Ultimately, her goal is to create an inclusive learning environment where every student can feel like they belong.
Outside of work, Irina is passionate about film, going to the movies, songwriting, video games and public transportation.
