Biography
Janet Coats is the managing director for the Consortium on Trust in Media and Technology at the College of Journalism and Communications. She leads the initiative to help identify and combat the spread of disinformation and educate professionals and the public on detecting intentional and unintentional misinformation. Janet led large multimedia news organizations, has done groundbreaking work in civic engagement and reader outreach, and built her own consulting company focused on engagement and sustainability strategies for non-profit and entrepreneurial news organizations.
