Almost-Almost Famous
Not long ago I reached out to Jann Wenner, founder of Rolling Stone magazine and personal hero, explaining that it was my one and only goal in life to write for him. He responded to the email by inviting me to meet with an editor at the New York head office of the magazine. While the interview went well, I was told that there weren't any opportunities to write for Rolling Stone right now. I still pursue this dream job on a daily basis, and hope to one day achieve that goal.

Perseverance
My whole life I've been pursuing that which I have been advised against. I was advised against going into journalism by professors, family members, even other journalist, but I refused to listen. I was advised against becoming a freelance journalist by the same group of people, though today I am successfully self-employed. Now I'm being told that I will never write for Rolling Stone magazine, but I've already had an interview. At 24 I continue to be living proof that "no" just isn't an answer.
