Biography
Dr. Gaines teaches Hebrew Bible, Jewish studies, and religious studies. He has previously taught biblical studies at College of the Holy Cross, Smith College, and the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College; and Judaism at Mount Holyoke College and Fairfield University. His major research interests include gender studies (especially concerning the concept of consent in the Bible), biblical poetry, Torah/Pentateuch, and social justice. He has authored a book, "The Poetic Priestly Source" (Fortress, 2015) and several articles.
