Dr. Jeffrey Blessing began his career at MSOE in 1986, having previously worked at NCR Corporation, Johnson Controls and Rockwell Automation. He taught in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department for 16 years, and is currently professor in the Rader School of Business, where he has taught management information systems courses for nearly 20 years.

Blessing has been named a Kern Fellow and founding member of the Kern Engineering Entrepreneurship Network, receiving a Kern Excellence award in 2013 for contributions to the network. He also has been named a Coleman Fellow of Entrepreneurship; is a founding member of the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance Advisory Council; and has been named a fellow at the National Institute for Medical Informatics. He has twice been an invited professor for the Rockwell Global Development Program at Czech Technical University in Prague. He has also served as a consultant to major corporations, has received funding for 12 grants, and is the author of 20 publications in the areas of computer algorithms, artificial intelligence, network design and entrepreneurship in engineering education.

The Foxconn Smart Cities—Smart Futures competition awards banquet was held at MSOE April 25 and the final round winners were announced. Of the 30 finalists, 12 were named winners, including Dr. Jeffrey Blessing, a professor in MSOE’s Rader School of Business.

Instilling an entrepreneurial mindset in engineering and technology students was established as part of the general curriculum all MSOE students now experience through three rounds of KEEN grants awarded to Dr. Blessing. Entrepreneurial values are now part of the MSOE Mindset that is supported through MSOE’s CREATE Institute, an academic unit dedicated to instilling principles of entrepreneurship and servant leadership in every MSOE student.
