Radar in intelligent transportation, opportunities, and challenges

IEEE  online

2021-01-21

Welcome back to ITS Podcast, this is the 67th episode to start the new year of 2022.

In this episode the focus has been on Automotive Radar.
The book that Haluk has chosen to review a book about Radars, Radar Signal Processing for Autonomous Driving, written by Jonah Gamba

Our special guest in this episode is Professor Markus Gardill, from Brandenburg University of Technology. Dr. Jeffrey miller from university of Southern California had a remarkably interesting conversation with him, but before everything else, let us listen to Baris, who is giving us news in this episode, to see what has happened in CES2022 in Las Vegas. It seems like Intelligent transportation stole the spotlight at the event.

CS@SC Camps impact on nearly 7,000 students

The Institute for Education  online

2021-12-06

The CS@SC Camps moved into its 7th year in 2021. The camps were run remotely for the second year due to the pandemic, but summer 2021 was the largest summer ever, reaching over 1,500 K12 students. The camps have educated nearly 7,000 students since its inception in computer programming, robotics, and digital security. Students learn different topics based on their age, with elementary school students learning Scratch Jr. and Scratch, middle school students learning Web Development, and high schooler students learning Java and Python.

On Software-based Remote Vehicle Monitoring for Detection and Mapping of Slippery Road Sections

International Journal of Intelligent Transportation Systems Research, Springer

Enriquez, D.J., Sean Jenson, Alexander Bautista, Paloma Field, Sun-il Kim, Muhammad Ali, Jeffrey Miller

The use of vehicular communications and networking technology has started to open up endless possibilities for applications development. These efforts include a wide rage of applications from road maintenance and traffic engineering at the transportation engineering level to applications designed for personal convenience and entertainment. In this paper, we describe our project on monitoring road conditions supported by the DOT-RITA program and the various agencies in Anchorage, Alaska.
