Biography
Jenna Bonistalli creates works with dimensional materials – paper, clay, thread, light and sound. Her work explores attention, ecological interactions and phenomena. Fiber, water, ceramic, thread, mirror and lens are echoes of living forms on earth, each holding a unique capacity and potential through space, touch and time. Considering a choreography of materials, Jenna designs installations and environments using light and projection.
Jenna earned a BA from New York University’s Gallatin School, an MSEd from Bank Street College of Education, and has studied at Penland School of Crafts and The Oxbow School. She completed her MFA in sculpture at the University of Iowa, with a minor in ceramics and a focus on hand papermaking at the UI Center for the Book.
Research interests include: teaching, hand papermaking, ceramics, installation, fiber, materiality, somatic learning, ecology, field working, wildflowers and prairies, light and sound
