Licensed clinical social worker, focusing on human behavior and the social environment apropos of mental health


Jennell Maze joined the adjunct faculty in 2011, teaching courses in human behavior and the social environment. She currently serves as a supervising social worker at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.

Her professional career has granted her the opportunity to be involved in social change as it relates to individuals, families and communities. As a licensed clinical social worker, she has provided 10 years of comprehensive outpatient services to children and their families. She is trained and certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, Managing and Adapting Practice, and has extensive experience with the military resilience model, Families OverComing Under Stress.

From 2006 to 2011, Maze served as a consultant with the Community and Cultural Services of the city of Santa Monica, which offered an array of opportunities to participate in gender-specific programming, youth development and civic engagement. She is passionate about learning and teaching, and aims to counter any culture of silence through education.
