Biography

Jennie Snow has taught writing, reading, and literature for more than a decade in higher education, community organizations, and prisons. She specializes in first-year writing with an emphasis on linguistic inclusivity, education justice, and open pedagogy -- this means her classes incorporate a lot of creativity, reflection, and collaboration to shape the collective learning experience.

She earned a Ph.D. in English from Brown University and a B.A. in English from Boston University. Her graduate research focused on multiethnic American literature, war, and prison camps during the 20th and 21st centuries. She continues to write about the intersection of prisons, citizenship, and displacement. Most recently she has written about hospice care in U.S. prisons and the potential of peer-based models of care.
