Jim Godfrey
Associate Dean Utah Valley University
Biography
Jim Godfrey currently serves as the Associate Dean in the School of the Arts at Utah Valley University, a position he has held for more than a decade. After a successful award-winning career in the design industry, Jim Godfrey received his MFA and transitioned to higher education, where he has spent the last 20 years at Utah Valley University. He served as chair of the Department of Art & Visual Communication and reached the rank of professor, before being selected as the associate dean for the School of the Arts. He has held the position for eleven years. In 2023, he completed overseeing the renovation and opening of the new UVU Museum of Art at Lakemount, a mansion converted to a museum near the university campus. His research involves leadership in higher education and he has presented at conferences of CCAS, ICFAD and Leadership In Higher Education. His creative work has been recognized by Print Magazine, the For Print Only awards, the Addy Awards, and the Telly Awards. He has written for How magazine and was also featured in the book Building Your Own Brand by Robin Landa. In recent years, his creative work and expertise has focused on typography.
