Dr. Lennon is a leading expert on hunger strikes, the relationships between Ireland and India, multicultural issues and contemporary Ireland. He is a professor English and also heads up Villanova's Center for Irish Studies.

Valley restaurant and pub owners say they don't need much Irish luck when it comes to bringing the crowds out on St. Patrick's Day — especially when it falls on a Friday. ... Villanova University Center for Irish Studies Director Dr. Joseph Lennon said, “Pub culture was a big part of the community because they were not in the centers of powers. Pubs acted as community centers.”
