Professor Reichenberger has over 50 years of professional engineering experience in public and private practice in water, wastewater and recycled water systems, water and wastewater treatment and treatment facility hydraulics. He is a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, life member of the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Association and member of Tau Beta Pi and Chi Epsilon engineering honor societies. Professor Reichenberger teaches classes in water and wastewater treatment systems, water quality management, soil mechanics and the senior capstone design class.
Prior to joining the faculty at LMU, he served as vice president and regional manager for Parsons in Pasadena.
Mr. Reichenberger also served as a Director of the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and formerly was a Commissioner on the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority -- an agency created by the State Legislature to implement cleanup of the Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin.
He is the author or co-author of chapters in a number of Manuals of Practice including “Design of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants”, “Wet Weather Design and Operation in Water Resource Recovery Facilities”, “Using Reclaimed Water to Augment Potable Water Resources”, and “Capital Project Delivery”.
He is the co-author of his own book titled “Turning Sewage into Reusable Water – Written for the Layperson” Archway Publishing, Co-author: Madan Arora

Joseph Reichenberger, a professor of civil engineering in the Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering, specializes in water quality management and wastewater treatment system design. He has worked and consulted extensively on local water issues and policy. Prior to joining the LMU faculty, he served as vice president and regional manager for Parsons Engineering Science, Inc. in Pasadena.
