Professor Reichenberger has over 50 years of professional engineering experience in public and private practice in water, wastewater and recycled water systems, water and wastewater treatment, odor control, and treatment facility hydraulics. He is a registered professional engineer in CA, NV, AZ, NM, and HI and a Certified T5 Water Treatment Facility Operator in CA. He is a Board Certified Environmental Engineer, a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers, life member of the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation Association and member of Tau Beta Pi and Chi Epsilon engineering honor societies. Professor Reichenberger teaches classes in water and wastewater treatment systems, water resources, water quality management, sustainability, and the senior capstone design class.

Professor Reichenberger has extensive industrial experience both in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to joining the faculty at LMU, he served as vice president and regional manager for Parsons in Pasadena. Prior to Parsons, Professor Reichenberger spent thirteen years with the civil engineering department at Daniel, Mann, Johnson, and Mendenhall (now part of AECOM), and three years with the Los Angeles County Flood Control District (now a part of the Department of Public Works).

Mr. Reichenberger also served over 23 years as a Director of the San Gabriel Valley Municipal Water District and formerly was a Commissioner on the San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority -- an agency created by the State Legislature to implement cleanup of the Main San Gabriel Groundwater Basin.

He is the author, co-author, or contributing author of chapters in a number of Manuals of Practice including “Design of Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants”, “Wet Weather Design and Operation in Water Resource Recovery Facilities”, “Using Reclaimed Water to Augment Potable Water Resources”, "Water Treatment Plant Design," 'Engineering for Sustainable Communities, Principles, and Practices," and “Capital Project Delivery”.

He is the co-author of his own book titled “Turning Sewage into Reusable Water – Written for the Layperson” Archway Publishing, Co-author: Madan Arora

Joseph Reichenberger, a professor of civil engineering in the Frank R. Seaver College of Science and Engineering, specializes in water quality management and wastewater treatment system design. He has worked and consulted extensively on local water issues and policy.
