Clinical Professor of Communication Studies


Professor Judy E. Battaglia is a Clinical Associate Professor of Communication Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she teaches classes in Rhetoric, Gender Communication, Intercultural Communication and two classes she created “For the Love of the Game: Gender, Sport and Communication,” and “Interrogating Tourism.” She is also a primary Faculty Advisor for the department. Her research interests include but are not limited to Poetry & Performance Studies, Disability Justice and Health Communication Advocacy, Anti-Racism, Intersectional and Intergenerational feminist theory and praxis, close-textual analysis, Critical -Cultural Studies, Critical Biography & (Auto)Ethnography, & Associative Autobiography.

She currently serves as the Faculty advisor to Sursum Corda service organization, whose mission is food justice and to do away with food insecurity. She is also the on-campus advisor for Delta Gamma Fraternity.

Professor Battaglia attended LMU as an undergraduate student where she was a founding member of The Marians Service Organization and where she received a BA in Communication Studies, another BA in English with an emphasis in Writing, and a minor in Sociology.
