Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor


Karen Pinkney joined the adjunct faculty of the Virtual Academic Center in 2012, teaching courses on leadership in the social work profession and organizational theory and practice.

A licensed clinical professional counselor, she has over 25 years of clinical experience in the EAP, addictions, and mental health fields. For the past 10 years she has worked as an organization development consultant in the health care industry; she also has a private counseling, coaching and consulting practice. Formerly she was the vice president of account operations for a national employee assistance program.

She serves on the board of directors for the Organization Development Network of Chicago.

She received her MA in counseling from Northeastern Illinois University. She has certification as an alcohol and other drug abuse counselor and an employee assistance professional, as well as professional coach through the International Coach Federation.
