2016 Further exploration into the mandates that require an increase in academic rigor within classrooms to ultimately prepare all students to be college and career ready. After acquiring the foundational skills of understanding rigor, building rigor into their instruction, and applying the four levels of Webb’s Depth of Knowledge. Rigor Demystified, Now What?: Applying & Aligning Webb’s Depth of Knowledge to Literacy & Math Instruction will address these issues specifically in the content areas of literacy and mathematics.

2016 Mandates to prepare all students to be college and career ready require an increase in academic rigor in today’s classrooms. It is critical that educators understand rigor, how to build rigor into their instruction, and how to apply the four levels of Webb’s Depth of Knowledge to deepen students’ knowledge. Demystifying Rigor: Dissecting Webb’s Depth of Knowledge for the Classroom will address these issues and provide practical tips for increasing rigor for reluctant and below grade level learners.

2014 During the session, there will be a brief overview of Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK) and how one may utilize the DOK wheel to optimize learning. The session will then analyze the teacher’s and students’ roles at each DOK Level. Next the session will move into interpreting state standards to ensure that teachers provide students learning opportunities at the correct thinking level. Then participants will participate in an activity where they will read a state standard and then create an aligned activity. Lastly, participants will engage in a discussion about differentiation and the use of Webb’s Depth of Knowledge.
