Biography
Speaker and writer Kimberly Culbertson recasts the story of identity and community. She has taught in the inner city of Chicago, founded a publishing company, and designed group life strategy for both Axis at Willow Creek Community Church and for the newly-launched Mission Church. Currently, she works with Forge America to motivate and train people to be the church rather than simply attend "church." As wife to Ben, mommy to Jack, and family-by-choice to Christa, Zeke, Zekie, and Elli, she is devoted to moving her family toward a full life.
Kimberly is a recovering approval addict, a paint brush loving workaholic, and a walking billboard for hope in all its many manifestations. She is not afraid to admit that she gets a little melancholy when she doesn't make it into a Starbucks for a few days.

Sojourners Article about Kimberly (professional)
Sojourners ran an article called "The Borderlands of Publishing" about a handful of independent publishers who were pushing the boundaries of "Christian" publish, including ours. The author, Julie Polter, quotes me from a panel discussion which I took part in at Calvin's Festival of Faith & Writing. Here's a link to a blog post I wrote when the article came out: http://www.kimberlyculbertson.com/?p=92

Sample Talks (3)
Be Encouraged
The word "encourage" literally means "to give courage." The Bible makes it clear that encouraging each other is not optional; in fact, discouraging each other has drastic consequences. How are we using the power that God's given us? Do people have more courage for having encountered us?
Standing Up
An invitation to women to pursue healthy identity. This talk centers around the story of healing told in Luke 13:10-17, which Kimberly unpacks in relation to women's confidence and posture in community and culture.
Speaking Church
The church should express the character of Jesus. We should speak, with our words and with our life, who God is.
