Biography

Lakiesha Williams is a professor of biomedical engineering and hosts the Williams Lab, which studies mechanistic changes associated with mild traumatic brain injuries. Her lab is interested in changes in mild TBI that may lead to later-life brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s Disease and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). Her team develops experimental approaches to study the brain, meninges, and skull complexes while exposed to blunt impact and blast overpressure. Current efforts focus on the role of meninges in TBI recovery and relationships between specific APOE isoforms and TBI-induced outcomes.
