Biography

Dr. Trujillo-Jenks currently teaches courses in the Educational Leadership Program. She has served in several capacities in public education, such as teacher, special education coordinator, assistant principal, and principal. These many roles in education were performed in several school districts: Austin ISD, Killeen ISD, Anna ISD, Cherry Creek Schools, and Fort Campbell Schools. Dr. Trujillo-Jenks also taught in the Educational Administration Program at the University of North Texas Dallas Campus and served on the Faculty Alliance/Senate as both the Secretary and Chair Elect.

She serves on many committees and is the co-coordinator of the Pioneer Teaching and Learning Academy, President-elect of the TWU Phi Kappa Phi, and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership (JCEL). Her honors and awards include, the Mary Mason Lyon Award, Academic Affairs Faculty Fellow, Sigma XI Member, Faculty Award For Outstanding Teacher, G. Ann Uhlir Fellowship, selected faculty for Ken Bain’s Best Teacher’s Institute, and winner of the Exemplary Faculty Practices, ELDR 6113 Campus Law-Quest for Quality: Teacher Preparation in Texas from the Center for Research, Evaluation, and Advancement of Teacher Education.

Dr. Trujillo-Jenks, along with two of her colleagues, Dr. Peggy Malone and Dr. Sarah McMahan, were awarded a Teaching and Research for Equipment and Technology-TARGET Grant, which will allow them to work with pre-service teachers and administrators in facilitating success for school-aged students and all other persons on a school campus.

Books Dr. Trujillo-Jenks has authored and co-authored are Survival Guide for New Teachers: How to become a Professional, Effective, and Successful Teacher; The Survival Guide for New Campus Administrators: How to Become a Professional, Effective, and Successful Administrator with Minerva Trujillo; and Case Studies on Safety, Bullying, and Social Media in Schools with Kenneth Jenks.
