Assistant Professor of Studio Arts (Ceramics) Loyola Marymount University
Biography
Luciano Pimienta is a Los Angeles based artist whose work explores the space found in the in-between of cultures and the rich complexity of what it means to be human. Using personal narratives as a starting point for sculptures and time-based installations, he investigates themes of time, memory, pedagogy, desire, and healing. He is interested in the ephemeral and uses a variety of media including ceramics and materials found in nature to explore his ideas. His work has been exhibited nationally, focusing on the south coast of California. He earned an MFA in ceramics from San Diego State University and BFA in ceramics from Alfred University.
