Biography
Marc Pitre is a professor of production who brings extensive industry experience and a passion for innovative filmmaking to his teaching at LMU. His pedagogical approach centers on holistic production planning that prioritizes humane conflict resolution as a core value in physical productions, preparing students for collaborative and ethical filmmaking practices.
As an award-winning filmmaker, Pitre recently wrote and directed "Unkind Cut," a short film that has screened at more than 40 festivals across four continents and won Best Short Film Concept at the 2025 Shock-A-Go-Go Film Festival in Beverly Hills. His current project, "Independence," explores themes of historical injustice and contemporary accountability through the story of a Black woman seeking justice for her ancestors' stolen Western land. Earlier in his career, Pitre's short student film "Show and Prove" earned recognition from the Directors Guild of America and screened at prestigious festivals in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, and other international venues, establishing his reputation for compelling storytelling.
And he still misses the SuperSonics.
