Biography
Maria Collins, PTA, is a licensed physical therapist assistant at ChristianaCare with more than 15 years of experience. As a physical therapist assistant, she has the opportunity to assist patients in progressing and achieving their functional independence during their hospital admission, following the plan of care established by the physical therapist. She also has the opportunity to provide education and family training on their treatments, home exercise program, and discharge recommendations. Collins collaborates with doctors, nurses, and social work to update patient status and to facilitate discharge.

Maria Collins, Physical Therapy Assistant: I have always wanted to work in a field where I could help people. Even before the virus, we see patients at their most vulnerable state, and knowing that I can help them feel better and make an impact on their recovery inspires me. During this difficult time, it means so much that I can be there for my patients when their families cannot due to limiting visitors to protect everyone.
