Mark Greer is managing director of philanthropy services at the Charities Aid Foundation, where he works with ‘wealth managers, family offices and professional advisors to provide world class philanthropy services clients and their families’. He oversees CAF's philanthropy services including private clients, legacy services, corporate advisory and giving services and CAF's grantmaking and charity advisory work.

Mark joined CAF in 2016 to lead the CAF American Donor Fund team, working with private clients and their families to help achieve their philanthropic goals around the world.

Mark has spent much of his professional life working with people to help them realise their philanthropic ambitions. Mark’s knowledge includes philanthropy and philanthropy advice, social investment, fundraising, major donors, cross border giving, donor advised funds and other charitable giving vehicles.

Prior to joining CAF, Mark worked as Philanthropy Director at UK Community Foundations and the CEO of the Beacon Awards for Philanthropy. Earlier in his career, Mark led programmes engaged in intercultural work and community development as well as working for a British MP and an ultra high net worth family in Miami, Florida.

Charities need ‘unrestricted’ donations right now – Covid-19 appeal from the Charities Aid Foundation



Spear’s: What has been the initial response to the crisis? Mark Greer: There are two big things that we’ve done so far. First, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has launched an appeal for funding specifically to tackle Covid-19 and focusing on at-risk communities around the world as the virus spreads. The way that is structured is that there is a UN foundation in New York and there is a Swiss foundation that are receiving those funds and passing that through to the WHO for their work.
