Philadelphia Archdiocese and Villanova University have entered into a partnership to offer a Master’s degree in Church Management. Matthew Manion, faculty director for the Villanova Center for Church Management, says the partnership came about as a result of work the University had done in the past with St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and selected parishes in the Archdiocese.

Five years ago I was teaching a leadership course for a group of priests in Rome when we heard that Pope Benedict XVI had resigned. In an interview with a BBC reporter outside of the Basilica of St. Peter, I shared my opinion that it took a tremendous amount of courage for him to retire, the first pope to do so in more than 400 years. I still believe it was an act of inspired leadership done out of love and concern for the church and her people.

The Villanova University School of Business has appointed Matthew Manion as the new faculty director for the Center for Church Management, writes Lou Baldwin for Catholic Philly.
Manion will replace Dr. Charles Zech, who has decided to step down from his role as the faculty director for the Center for Church Management (CCM) and Master’s of Science in Church Management Program.

The Villanova University School of Business recently announced that Dr. Charles Zech, a professor of economics, has stepped down from his role as the faculty director for the Center for Church Management (CCM) and Master’s of Science in Church Management (MSCM) Program.
Zech, who founded the center in 2004 as the first program of its kind in the nation, will remain at Villanova’s School of Business and assist on the transition.
He will be succeeded by Matthew Manion, a former president and CEO and most recently a senior fellow at the Wayne-based Catholic Leadership Institute (CLI).
