Meggan Thompson is an expert in cognitive-behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy.


MEGGAN THOMPSON joined the social work adjunct faculty in 2015.

A licensed clinical social worker, she currently works for the Los Angeles Department of Health Services on the Compliance and Population Management Team at Twin Towers Correctional Facility. She conducts trainings, evaluates mental health services, and prepares audits and reports as part of the Department of Justice consent decree to monitor and improve mental health services within the LA County jail system.

Previously, she worked for the Department of Mental Health in the Skid Row community of downtown LA. She provided case management, housing advocacy and psychotherapy services for adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

Thompson is trained in cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and other evidenced-based practices. Her areas of interest include personality disorders, addiction and forensic social work.

She is a returned Peace Corps volunteer, having served in the Republic of Moldova where she taught health education and worked with local agencies on issues related to the education and prevention of human trafficking.
