
Michael Noltemeyer

Biography
Michael Noltemeyer is a Senior Writing Instructor in the Core Curriculum at Loyola Marymount University, where he also teaches in the graduate Systems Engineering program and the graduate program in Theological Studies. He serves as a Faculty Fellow in the Academic Resource Center, and he has also worked with the Center for Teaching Excellence, the McNair Scholars Program, A Community Committed to Excellence in Scientific Scholarship (ACCESS), and the First to Go Program. Michael holds a B.A. in Psychology from Yale University and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from the University of New Mexico, where he won teaching awards for creative writing and technical and professional writing. He taught in the English Department and the Honors College at the University of Massachusetts Lowell before coming to LMU in 2019. Since then, he has won two LMU teaching awards, including the 2025 Term Faculty Distinguished Teaching Award. Michael has published both fiction and pedagogy, and he has over 15 years of professional writing experience for Fortune 500 companies and Fast 500 startups, in which capacity his work has been published in almost every liquor store in the country.
