Biography
My work focuses on animal-free agriculture, mostly in the Global North. I have two active projects in this area. One focuses on veganic farming in the United States. With Alisha Utter (UVM), the project considers the values, experiences, and farming practices of US veganic growers, as well as the parallels between veganic and agroecological production. The other project, with Richard J. White (independent), considers possibilities for justice for non-human animals in agrifood transitions.
I welcome contact from graduate students seeking an external advisor on topics related to animal-free agriculture, and from other researchers interested in collaboration on such topics.
In the past, my research has explored urban sustainability planning and green infrastructure, with particular attention to alleyway revitalization and greenspace planning.
