Biography
Koontz is a dynamic communicator who thrives in fast-paced, ever-changing environments where attention to detail, discretion, resilience, and a positive demeanor are critical to producing excellence. Prior to her employment at SUU, she worked at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Hilberry Theatre and the Walt Disney Company. She earned an MFA in Arts Management from Wayne State University and a bachelor’s degree from California State University, Fullerton.

The 2017 Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge ended Sunday leaving Southern Utah University with the title of the most outdoorsy school in the nation. The challenge is sponsored by a non-profit organization call Outdoor Nation and encourages college students and members of their community to do more outdoor activities by associating each activity with a certain number of points.

AA 6810 - Marketing in the Arts I
Students will be able to identify and develop arts audiences and to increase earned income through the study of audience segmentation, market research, branding, special promotions, advertising, public relations, and online marketing.
AA 6830 - Marketing in the Arts II
Students will learn and apply digital terminology for marketing, the importance of creating a high-ranking online presence, and how to reach target audiences through digital channels. Class activities will focus on creating a digital content strategy with assignments that include audience research, content creation and distribution, and digital analytics.
ENGL 3120 - Grant and Technical Writing
This course is open to all students who want to learn about technical writing, including grant and proposal writing. Students will use time-tested rhetorical strategies to identify new opportunities and solve problems. They will develop plans for action, organize ideas, improve the clarity of their writing, and communicate scientific information in a way that a general audience can understand. Students will have the option to work with a community partner in a project-based technical writing experience.
AA 6220 - Fundraising and Event Planning
This course engages students in the theory and practice of project management, developing in them the skills to create and host successful projects, including fundraising events. The course will culminate in the production of a fundraising event from initial research, through planning, execution, and evaluation.
