Biography
Paulo P. Lima, PhD, is an adjunct professor at Loyola Marymount University and California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Dr. Lima holds a doctoral degree in Theater and Performance Studies from UCLA and a Masters of Fine Arts with emphasis in Costume Design from California State University, Long Beach.
Originally from Brazil, Dr. Lima has a passion for art. As an artist, his work has been featured in several galleries in California and New Mexico. His dissertation on sartorial performance touched on aspects of race, gender and social economic
status among practitioners of Candomblé. In his teaching, Dr. Lima encourages his students to use poetry as a means of expression. He enjoys spending time with his dog Mia, an English Cocker Spaniel, while painting, sculpting and writing from his studio space in Santa Barbara, CA.
