Dr. Patrice A. McClellan comes to Fielding with 20 years in higher education, including roles in academic advising, curriculum development, internal change agency and consultation and, most recently, graduate program management.

Dr. McClellan received a bachelor’s degree in business administration (marketing) from The University of Toledo; a master’s degree in organization development and a doctorate in educational administration and leadership studies from Bowling Green State University.
Prior to coming to Fielding, Dr. McClellan was Associate Professor of Business and Leadership at Lourdes University. She also served as a member of the faculty at Miami University of Ohio, where she oversaw curriculum development for Miami's Wilkes Leadership Institute. In addition, she served as Special Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs, leading the division through strategic planning and organizational change strategies.

Dr. McClellan also has a full and robust research agenda that fuels her leadership practice. She focuses on leadership education and developing culturally competent leaders by examining leadership practices from the viewpoint of the follower. Dr. McClellan’s leadership philosophy is one of inclusion and reciprocity; her philosophy is purposeful, in that education should incorporate all of these tenets while enhancing the lives of students.

Dr. McClellan has published works in various journals and is co-author of a book titled 'Herstories: Leading with the Lessons of the Lives of Black Women Activists.' Her publication 'Toward Critical Servant Leadership in Graduate Schools of Education: From Theoretical Construct to Social Justice Praxis' stems from her research in social justice and leadership practice. In addition, Dr. McClellan’s research on faculty development is groundbreaking, using duoethnography methodology to interrogate power and privilege in leadership education.
