Biography

Dr. Pedro M. Reyes is an associate professor of operations and supply chain management in the Hankamer School of Business, Baylor University and serves as an associate editor for Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education. Before Baylor University, Dr. Reyes taught at the University of Dallas Graduate School of Management and the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Reyes currently teaches an online MBA course in global supply chain strategy and undergraduate courses in global supply chain management. Other courses taught include applied supply chain analytics, quality management, procurement & materials management, an introduction to statistics, business logistics, operations management, and project management. He is the founder and former director of the Center of Excellence in Supply Chain Management at Baylor University.

Dr. Reyes' research interests consist of designing global supply chain operations planning and control systems. He has been actively researching the use of RFID (radio frequency identification) as an information communication technology for the integration of upstream to downstream global supply chain operations. During the past few years, his research has extended to Industry 4.0 in global supply chains and the amalgamation of technologies that include the use of RFID, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence and machine learning, and Blockchain.

Dr. Reyes has consulted and served as an expert witness. Consulting projects include project management, data scientist, and content expert for global supply chain management & management of technologies (RFID, IoT, Industry 4.0, and Blockchain). His international consulting resulted as the Latin Americas Project Leader for the Delta Airlines RFID implementation project.

Before his academic career, Dr. Reyes worked for over 20 years in Operations & Supply Chain Management industry experience in the Greater Dallas area. His professional roles include Global Supply Chain Coordinator, Materials Manager, Production Manager, Production and Inventory Control Manager, Quality Facilitator, Fulfillment Supervisor, and General Manager. He also served as a Project Manager or on Project Management Teams for quality improvement, global supply chain production and inventory planning process improvement, ISO 9000 certification and re-certification, and ERP systems implementation, such as i2, SAP, and Oracle.
