Biography

Dr. Peter Anderson - Leading authority and expert on clinical practice operations with over 20 years of experience in providing medical care. As a former family care provider, entrepreneur and educator, he is devoted to the transformation of healthcare clinics across the country.

In 2003, he introduced Family Team Care, a practice model that focuses on the highest and most effective use of clinical staff. It has notable improved professional satisfaction with practice, quality of care, documentation and financial performance. In addition, it has increased patient visit volume, while raising patient satisfaction.

Dr. Anderson holds the following credentials:
- Been in private primary care practice since 1982
- Met national 90% HEDIS benchmarks for excellence in December 2010 for mammography rates, colorectal screening, hypertension management goals and all nine diabetic management goals
- Author of book "Liberating the Family Physician" in 2005
- National speaker on clinical practice operations efficiency and PCMH for Merck since 2010
- Presentations at the national meeting of the American Academy of Family Physicians on the Family Team Care process in 2008 and 2009
- Expert panel member at the Brookings Institute in April 2009 on the topic of "Restoring Primary Care Infrastructure in the United States"
- Presentations at the national meeting of the American Medical Group Association on the Family Team Care process in 2008 and 2009
- National print and online articles about the Family Team Care process in Family Practice Management, Business Week Magazine, Nursing Advance Magazine and Medical Economics from 2007-2010, Healthcare Finance News, Healthdata Management, TheAtlantic.com and USAToday.com in 2013
- Advisory Panel for Multiple Chronic Conditions for the AMGA since 2010
- Awarded in November 2010, a primary training contract for implementation of Family Team Care for the U.S. Army's MEDCOM's CBPCC pilot program to develop practice efficiencies and PCMH in these clinics
- To date has trained 16 of the 21 Army clinics in this pilot program leading to very successful launch of the Family Team Care model
- Has also trained at hospital systems across the USA, helping them implement Family Team Care pilots
