Biography

Peter O’Donnell was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of Unum International in October 2018 and is a member of that organization’s governing body, Unum Limited Board of Directors. Previously (and prior to the company’s expansion into Poland), he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Unum UK since September 2012.

O’Donnell joined Unum in June 2010 as the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to that he was Director of Group Finance at Prudential plc and held senior finance and business positions at RSA plc and Aviva plc.

O’Donnell has spent over 20 years in the financial services industry, has held a number of significant operational and international roles and has excellent experience of the UK Life & Pensions market and the wider global insurance industry.

O’Donnell is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from University College Dublin.

He and his wife, Colette, have three children and live in Kent, England.

Unum completes purchase of Poland-based Pramerica

Pramerica will remain a standalone business reporting to Peter O’Donnell, executive vice president of Unum Group and CEO of Unum UK, who will become the chair of Pramerica’s supervisory board.

Almost a third of women claiming earn under £20,000 and more than 40% of women who make a mental health claim were under 40-years-old. More of our claims still come from older [employees] though, especially men over 50.
