For most of the 20 years of my career the question has always existed as to whether the Digital Advertising industry was going to materialize into anything sustainable. It has encountered the same level of skepticism as all new disruptive technologies before it. In Canada, true to our conservative nature we have for the most part remained true to our reputation of waiting for others to lead before committing ourselves to a course of action. This I believe has hindered the growth of the infrastructure required for our industry to mature. So it is time that we accept the fact that digital advertising is here to stay and in fact has already surpassed television as the #1 media by ad spend and will continue to outpace it in the future...
