Biography
Richard Douglas is a Microsoft Certified SQL Server professional with a broad IT knowledge interested in all aspects of SQL Server including:
Database design
Query optimisation
Business Intelligence
Migration projects
Disaster Recovery / High Availability
Security
Richard has been working with databases since 1996 starting with Unidata where he was an analyst/developer working for a direct marketing company. The company Richard was working for then acquired another software house where he was instrumental in migrating their client base which were on a Microsoft FoxPro platform. This company later changed their IT strategy and implemented Avaya CRM on a clustered SQL Server 2000 platform which Richard was heavily involved in.
Richard was presented with an opportunity to work with a software house primarily producing customer management software as a Consultant/Senior Support Analyst. This role saw Richard implementing, providing training and consultancy on the company's products on the clients sites. The clients for this company were predominantly on Paradox, SQL Server and Oracle database platforms.
In 2007 Richard accepted a position as a Database Administrator / Developer for a company in the financial sector.
In October 2009 Richard launched a SQL blog on his own website http://SQL.RichardDouglas.co.uk where he provides real world advice and tips on SQL Server.
