Rickie Jones is an adjunct lecturer who joined the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work in 2017.
Jones is a licensed social worker with experience providing services to various populations. He serves in a leadership role as a senior social work coordinator working with military veterans and their families for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. His social work-related experiences include coordinating national homeless initiatives, inpatient medical social work, outpatient medical social work, and direct mental health services to individuals, families and groups.
Jones earned Veterans Health Administration mentor certification through mentoring and supporting employees and staff seeking professional (or clinical) advancement. He has also worked as an emergency room social worker at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital, where he provided crisis interventions, mental health evaluations, and direct clinical services to underserved individuals and families experiencing trauma. Jones’ past professional experiences also includes working with U.S. House of Representatives, Los Angeles Community Development Commission and American Lung Association, where he provided policy and advocacy support.
Jones earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and a master’s in public administration from California State University, Northridge. He also received a Master of Social Work, with an emphasis in mental health and military social work, from the University of Southern California.
