Biography

Dr. R. Jeffery (Jeff) Maxfield is a professor in the Emergency Services Department. He has served as Department Chair of the Emergency Services Department, Director of the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy, Associate Dean over the School of Public Services in the College of Health and Public Service, as well as Director of the Institute of Emergency Services and Homeland Security at Utah Valley University. He has extensive experience in Public Administration. He is a retired Chief Operations Officer (COO) of the largest fire department in Utah, with approximately 25 years of service. Jeff helped create and served on the executive board of the International Society for Preparedness, Resilience, and Security (InSPRS), a professional organization. He has and continues to consult for corporations and various government agencies throughout North America and Europe, and New Zealand on leadership, adult education, organizational development, and personal development. Jeff’s research interests are in leadership and adult education. He has a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree from Utah State University, a Master of Public Administration degree from Brigham Young University, A Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix, and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fire Science from Utah Valley University.
