Biography
Ron Thompson develops companies that have a unique niche in a growing sector of social-purpose businesses striving to create change through profitable enterprise. Modern Luxury magazine in Dallas calls him a “creative capitalist” for his renegade approach to social enterprise. Doing double duty as both business development and fund development, Ron uses the resources of creative sector industries to create wealth. He then reinvests this wealth back in creative-led ventures and public-smart projects.
His investments in the creative culture cross all sectors including the visual, performing, cinema, literary, education, and communication arts. Specializing in advancing small business ventures within creative sector industries, Ron focuses on developing the infrastructure, resources, and professional connections entrepreneurs require to manage their creative companies and invest in their communities.
Ron is passionate in his belief that an investment in the creative community is an investment in the entire community. He devotes his personal philanthropic attention to Dallas area nonprofit organizations that focus on education and the arts. In 2003 he was the Volunteer of the Year for the Sammons Center for the Arts, and his foundation was the 2009 Benefactor of the Year for the Sammons Center for the Arts. In 2011, he was selected by One Man Dallas as one of the twenty semifinalists recognized because of his generous contributions to the community.
