Biography

Ruth King is a seasoned entrepreneur. Over the past 25 years she has owned 7 businesses. Her first business, Business Ventures Corporation (BVC), began operations in 1981. Through BVC she coaches, trains, and helps businesses achieve the business goals they want to achieve. She also started and currently operates Ribbon, The Internet Broadcasting Network and its channels, HVACChannel.tv, ProfitabilityChannel.com, and TurnOnMyFinancialLightBulb.com.

She is especially proud of one company she helped climb out of a big hole. He started with a negative $400,000 net worth 15 years ago and is still in business today…profitably and with a positive net worth.

Ruth started a branch of the Small Business Development Center in Decatur, Georgia in 1982. She also started the Women’s Entrepreneurial Center and taught a year-long course for women who wanted to start their own businesses. This course was the foundation for one of the classes at the Women’s Economic Development Authority in Atlanta, Georgia.

More recently Ruth was the instructor for ICE, the Inner City Entrepreneur program in conjunction with the Small Business Administration. This 16 week course taught business owners with at least $400,000 in revenues (and many had over $1,000,000 in revenues) how to grow to the next level. A large part of the curriculum was aimed at improving the financial knowledge of the business owners enrolled in the course.

Ruth holds an MBA in finance from Georgia State University. She also holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University and University of Pennsylvania, respectively.

She has written many manuals and books including “21 Way to Keep Your Honest Employees Honest”. She was the 2006 USA Best Books Winner for Entrepreneurship and a finalist for the Independent Publisher Awards (IPPY) for her first book, The Ugly Truth About Small Business (Sourcebooks). Her second book, The Ugly Truth about Managing People, was published by Sourcebooks in 2007. She is currently working on the third book in The Ugly Truth about series.

Ruth is a down to earth, thought provoking trainer who provides students with ideas that will inspire them and help them earn more profits.
