Biography

Sanford “Sandy” Mappa, an entrepreneur, financial-sector executive, and educator, renders financial-planning advice and educates the public on mortgage and identity-theft issues. A graduate of DePaul University, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, he has earned multiple recognitions from the Consumers’ Research Council of America. In 2005, Senior Market Advisor magazine, in collaboration with the National Ethics Bureau, named Sandy Mappa one of five finalists for Producer of the Year. The award acknowledges education, experience, and a commitment to ethical business practices. Sandy Mappa serves as founder and President of Mappa Financial Planning, Inc., in Northbrook, Illinois; he also founded the Center for Identity Protection and the American Institute for Mortgage Education.

Sandy Mappa holds six certifications and designations, including CFP (Certified Financial Planner), ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant), and CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter). In his more than 30-year career, he has taught homeowners how to save money on their mortgages and educated the public on the dangers of identity theft. Mappa also conducts continuing education courses for Certified Public Accounts, and presents seminars for other industry professionals, such as insurance specialists, mortgage brokers, financial planners, and stockbrokers. Additionally, he hosted Mapping Your Financial Future, a weekly radio program, wrote a column addressing financial-planning issues for Lerner Newspapers, and has shared his expertise in several publications. Mappa wrote three books as well, including Mortgage Mistakes and Misconceptions: Proven Strategies That Prevent Homeowners from Losing a Fortune.
