Author of the book The Intimate Ape: Orangutans and the Secret Life of a Vanishing Species (2010) and five other books, including Letters From Prison: Felons Write about the Struggle for Life and Sanity Behind Bars.
Travelled extensively in Borneo, Sumatra, and parts of Indonesia and Southeast Asia to write the orangutan book.
Currently working on a book about morality and apes.
