The Path to Physical Fitness with ChristianaCare

Focus on the Delaware Valley, with Lora Lewis  radio

2021-08-16

Sheila Taylor DO, sports medicine specialist at ChristianaCare and Leyla Tannozzini, athletic trainer at ChristianaCare, discussed the path to physical fitness, a new goal for many of us after months of staying home. We discussed their fields and their work with athletes who are aiming to prevent injury. They both assure us that anyone can do some added cardio and strength training unless specifically told not to. Leyla offered easy ways to get the recommended 150 minutes in each week – curl the milk jug when putting it away, park farther from your destination, increase your speed or add weight to your regular daily activities. The benfits are overall better health, better mental health and even better memory and balance in older age. Dr. Taylor, a fomer rower, discussed the benefits of sports to children and how to do them safely and without burn-out. For more information go to ChristianaCare.org
