STACEY PENNY, MSW, MPH, has more than 17 years of experience at executive and senior management levels of the non-profit sector, including the National Healthy Start Association, where she served as executive director from 2009 to 2012. Prior to this position, Penny was the associate director of Women, Children and Infants at the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs after starting her career at the National Black Child Development Institute in 1998. At present, she is the president and founder of The Penny Consulting Group, a boutique consulting firm that collaborates with organizations, agencies and foundations focused on improving the lives of children and families. The Penny Consulting Group works to create strategic solutions in four key areas of development: program, partnership, organization/infrastructure and funding.
With advanced degrees in social work and public health, Penny has also served on numerous boards and committees, including National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, Women’s Roundtable, Futures Without Violence, Committee on Implementation of the IOM Pregnancy Weight Guidelines, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Preconception Care Consumer and Public Health Workgroups, and HRSA Expert Workgroup on Postpartum Depression and Intimate Partner Violence. She is currently on the board of directors for the DC Diaper Bank and serves as chair of its external relations committee. Penny lives in Maryland with her husband and daughter.
