Biography
Stacy Burns is Professor and past Chair of Sociology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. She received her Juris Doctorate from Yale University and her PhD from UCLA. From 2009-2011, Dr. Burns was the Chair of the Crime and Juvenile Delinquency Division of the Society for the Study of Social Problems (SSSP). She is the author or editor of several books—Making Settlement Work; Ethnographies of Law and Social Control; and (with Mark Peyrot), New Approaches to Social Problems Treatment, and has published numerous journal articles. Dr. Burns is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and graduated Summa Cum Laude and with Departmental Honors.
