Biography

Stephanie Liapis' professional career as a performing artist and dance maker spans twenty years and includes work with Doug Varone and Dancers, Nancy Bannon, Nicholas Leichter Dance, Susan Marshall & Company and many others. Stephanie creates interdisciplinary dance works and interactive experiences, designs costumes and restages the works of Doug Varone. She has taught extensively across the country and abroad including positions at Long Island University in Brooklyn and Swarthmore College where she served as an Assistant Professor of Dance. Stephanie received a B.F.A. from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an M.F.A. from the University of Washington. Her thesis work at the UW focused on writing embodied dance criticism. She is currently teaching and making work in Southern California.
