Biography
Dr. Stephen Heller obtained B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Sociology from the University of Chicago in 2005. After spending two years at Merck & Co. as a medicinal chemist, he studied at the University of California, Berkeley as an NSF Predoctoral Fellow, earning his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2012. Dr. Heller was a Visiting Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Willamette University for four years, teaching introductory, organic, and physical organic chemistry. The Heller Research Group is broadly engaged in the synthesis of organic molecules, focusing on the development of novel chemoselective acylations, new methods for the synthesis of complex nitrogen-containing rings, and the synthesis of bioactive alkaloids.
