Biography

Professor Lind received his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, and his LL.M. in taxation from New York University in 1966. Following his graduation, he served as a law professor at the University of San Francisco, at the University of Florida in both its J.D. and LL.M. (taxation) programs, and at Hastings, where he has taught since 1975.

Professor Lind is a co-author with Freeland, Lathrope and Stephens of The Fundamentals of Federal Income Taxation, currently in its fourteenth edition, and a co-author with Stephens, Maxfield, Calfee and Smith of Federal Estate and Gift Taxation, currently in its eighth edition. He was formerly a co-author with Lathrope, Schwarz and Rosenberg of Fundamentals of Corporate Taxation and Fundamentals of Partnership Taxation, through their fourth and fifth editions, respectively. He has also co-authored with Hudson Black Letter Outline on Federal Income Tax, currently in its tenth edition. He teaches in various areas of federal taxation, and when not reading the Internal Revenue Code or contemplating retirement, he spends time in various recreational activities such as boating, hiking and gaming at Lake Tahoe and Palm Springs.
