Biography
Dr Steve Nash teaches across multiple disciplines across Cultural Studies, including Literature, Creative Writing, and Media, reflecting his broad interests and expertise. Steve's Ph.D studies focused on the now largely forgotten Victorian author Hesba Stretton, and his most recent published research applies a broad range of critical theory to literary and digital media narratives. Steve also works in the Business School and is the Module leader for the postgraduate Masters dissertation programmes in Marketing, Pr, and Journalism.
Creatively, Steve has authored two collections of poetry and a pamphlet. His poetry collection 'Myth Gatherers' won the 'Not the Forward Prize for Best Poetry', and he is also a Saboteur Award winner, being named Spoken Word Performer of the Year from a shortlist that included Kate Tempest and Hollie McNish. His most recent collection ‘Nearly Man’ was released in April 2024.
Steve is the co-editor and technical artist of literary arts publication Spelt Magazine, and runs West Yorkshire's longest running monthly poetry event, Puzzle Poets Live.
Steve's critical evaluation of the Metal Gear Solid, videogame franchise will be published by Bloomsbury, and he is currently collaborating with academics from Birmingham and Southampton University on a creative/critical project exploring plurality in poetry.
His first novel Remington Platypus will be published by Northodox Press in 2025.
