Biography
Steve Palmer’s track record of building and leading organizations to support public safety research and innovation includes raising over $100 Million focused on public safety emerging technologies, practices for emergency management, counter terrorism, law enforcement safety and security. A Professional Engineer and former Executive Director of the Collaborative Centre for Justice and Safety, the Canadian Institute for Public Safety Research and Treatment and the Canadian Police Research Centre where he brought together a critical mass of leading edge research and education to focus on the diverse requirements of the public safety and the responder communities.
He is a Life Member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. He received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, the CATA award for Public Sector Innovation and Leadership and was recognized for Leadership that Made a Difference by the Communications Interoperability Technology Interest Group for his role as a champion for interoperability in Canada.
